School masters discretion

I went to a mixed state comprehensive in the UK in the 1970s and all teachers were allowed to use Corporal Punishment. It seemed very to be very much at the teacher's discretion on how to use it both in frequency and implement. It ranged from some teachers that used it all the time for anything to some that never used it. Implements favored by those who used it were cane, strap and gym shoe (always called slipper). It was used on both boys and girls. Much more male teachers were CP enthusiasts than female.

That differs from my primary school where all the teachers were female and there definitely were some CP enthusiasts among them. CP though was milder with some favoring OTK hand spanking.
