A Merry Christmas

50 years ago I would have watched 'Wir warten aufs Christkind.' It was a TV-show for kids. We children were parked at the TV while the parents would prepare the tree and everything else christmassy and I can't remember if at 5 or 6 pm we would 'sneak' to the tree trying to get a sneak peek of the Christkind. and shortly afterwards would be allowed to the tree and the presents.

And a Merry Christmas to you too, and to everyone else here.

Even when people quote the last few lines of Clement Clarke Moore's poem they feel the need to covert "happy" to "merry." (And of course, on the poem, St Nick was a "jolly old ELF, " and was clad ALL in fur, not some bright red suit merely trimmed in fur).
