A conversation I had with two attractive young ladies a few years ago about school corporal punishment has an airline theme because they were stewardesses on a South African Airways flight. I really don't know how the subject came up but they both told me that they had been caned at school. They both got it on the hand and one of them asked the teacher if she could rather take it on the bottom (I suspect that's how she was punished at home). The teacher apparently refused - spoil sport!

I remember a story in Janus (I think) called 'The Flight of the Weeping Angels' about a special flight just for misbehaving stewardesses and their pilots. The stewardesses were quite severely punished by their pilots, and since the punishments took place in mid-air while the plane was flying over international waters, the stewardesses had no escape, and no legal comebacks!

There was a short newspaper report floating around the interwebs a while back about a British Airline exec in pre-independence Kenya in the 1950's who was prosecuted for assault for caning a stewardess. Apparently she had failed to comply with company procedure during a landing and he offered her the choice of a caning instead of a formal disciplinary process. The kinky twist is that she was wearing a girdle type suspender belt which he thought would make the punishment ineffective so she had to go in a corner out of sight to take it off. She was then caned across the back of her skirt with her stockings falling down. It hurt far more than she had expected so she reported him to the police.
