School caning requested by mother

I was watching a clip where Cathy got caned in Grange Hill. Her mother more or less convinced the Headmistress to cane Cathy. She got one stroke on each hand. It so reminded me of how things used to be.

Nowadays parents defend their kids like mad and blame everything on the teachers. It was very different in my time. I was warned not to come home complaining if I got caned because I obviously deserved it.

Thats right. Used to be, back when schools used cp, many parents said, "Get it at school, you get it when you get home."
To change the subject, were it up to me, canings or other punishment on the hands would not be on spanking sites. Its certainly not spanking, as it does not involve the buttocks!
But then again, some would say the same about leg switchings, a favorite of mine! A turn-on to imagine a woman with long,gorgeous legs, a la Betty Grable, having to do the dreaded "switch dance" while clad in her short-shorts, or similar attire. Which she won't be wearing for awhile because of the stripes!

Early on in Grange Hill, a couple of the mothers granted the head permission to cane their sons, too. It was the first time they'd dine it since the school went coed.

Yes, it's wonderful that things have changed now and children are listened to. I was a victim of several awful, sadistic teachers at school and the fact I was listened to about the abuse I experienced made it *slightly* easier to deal with. If I'd been ignored or told I deserved it I don't imagine I'd have coped very well. It's wonderful that things have changed and children's rights are becoming more respected.

When I was in public school in the U.S. a good many years ago, teachers were already instructed not to use corporal punishment as it was called. One teacher became highly agitated by a student's clearly offensive behavior, and pulled him from his seat by the scruff of his neck and pushed him up against the wall. The school district defended the teacher in the subsequent lawsuit and the school district and the teacher prevailed in court. My parents didn't like the teacher but they agreed with defending him because in those days, parents did generally support decisions made by school authorities in both curriculum and discipline.

Sorry to hear that. Presumably the abuse was more psychological than physical in your era, otherwise they would have fallen foul of the law.

My mother had a teacher she was quite literally terrified of. He made her life a misery and she always blamed him for causing a lack of confidence in her adult life.

The most shocking thing I saw at school was a teacher in a really foul temper telling a boy to remove his glasses and then slapping him very hard across the face, Although corporal punishment was perfectly legal and accepted at the time, I just knew instinctively that he'd crossed a line between legitimate punishment and violence.

I remember the teachers who used corporal punishment, usually the slipper, tended to be more popular than the ones that didn't. Their students also tended to get consistently better grades.

Who would have thought? ;)
