Honor Blackman RIP

Honor Blackman, the British actress who played Pussy Galore in Goldfinger, and started in the Avengers has died at the age of 94.

She was without doubt the sexist Dom of her era, and made female black leather mainstream.

Sad to hear this. She looked terrific.

Well, she had a good run, even if she did mostly TV. She was one of those persons that is always there in the background, but never really have their breakthrough. Still, the original Avengers wouldn't have been much without her. One of her final performances was in the rather amusing "Cockneys vs. zombies" in 2012. At 88, she was still going strong.

She was well known for portraying formidable female characters. As well as the leather-clad Cathy Gale in The Avengers, she played the Greek goddess Hera in Jason And The Argonauts and the iconic Bond girl Pussy Galore in the movie Goldfinger back in the mid 60's. Apparently censors prevented that name from appearing in certain publications. I wonder why

Largely thanks to her character Cathy Gale knee length black leather boots became fashionable for young women, and they were referred to in the Press as "Kinky Boots". I was around 10 at the time and my mate and I used to tease his older sister about her "Kinky Boots", but we didn't understand why at 10 years old.

RIP Honor.
You gave many a young boy a lot of excitement in the Avengers. You made those boots into a fashion icon.

If she helped launch the boots craze, I say bravo.
