Just a few minutes ago I was chatting with a fellow spanko on www.worldspankingforum.com . I brought up the subject of whether there are any typical differences between the typical spanking fantasies of men and of women. My friend in the chat room thought that there definitely were differences. She thought that women were more focused than men on the embarassment factor in spankings. I wondered if there might also be a difference in regard to the dominance/submission dynamic. Maybe many women enjoy fantasizing about being spanked by a father/authority figure. Maybe more women than men fantasize about being on the receiving end?

Any of you have any thoughts on this subject?

I have no evidence, but I've always believes guys are far more interested in reading about F/F spankings than ladies are about reading M/M ones.

False. Women are just more discrete about it. Women get off on gay porn to the same extent that men do on its lesbian counterpart. That's just as true in our kink as it is in any other.

Really, the more of life I experience, the more convinced I become that most of the differences between men and women are learned behaviors rather than inherent ones.

I'd be interested to know if there is evidence for this. It's certainly not true for me, nor do I enjoy M/M or M/m spanking stories.

I do realise, however, that I am ONE person, so not necessarily representative of women in general.

I agree with SNM. Many women do get turned on by M/M romance, with or without spanking.

I used to be really into fanfiction, particularly Harry Potter fanfic. Of course I've looked up just about every HP fanfic involving spanking. About 80% of them are M/M. The rest are pretty much M/F, with the odd F/F or F/M story here and there. Nearly all of it is written by women.

It's not just about spanking either. I've spoken to many women who love to admire and read about gay men. One of the online communities I follow is about figure skating, and many of the women there love to fantasize about male skaters whom they know are gay. Some even write M/M fanfiction about them!

I don't know how common it is, but the interest is definitely there.

Ditto for me. I am M/F all the way even though there are a few stories sprinkled in with my writing that are F/M or F/f......always a mother figure spanking her child or Husband.

Oh, I don't deny that, I just wonder if SNM's assertion that,

can be supported by any statistical evidence, such as surveys etc.

I also realize that I am just one man, but both F/F and M/M spanking stories tend to leave me equally cold. I guess I just didn't get that particular kink gene. We are all individuals.

For what it's worth, the stats tell us that the library has more F/F stories than any other gender category except M/F. Any way to know if those F/F stories are written mostly by men or by women?

I can't show you hard evidence, but speaking from personal experience I've had a LOT of women tell me this. I've also found a lot of M/M smut online that's written by women (most often teenaged girls, interestingly enough), as per Sarah's findings.

Now, not all women like to read about gay guys, just like not all guys (like Guy, apparently) like to read about lesbians. Perhaps I mispoke when I said that the homosexuality fetish was AS common among straight women as it is for straight men; it may be more common for men. Either way, however, I do assure you that there are a LOT of women who like M/M.

It's fairly subjective, I think. My wife is not turned on by same sex porn at all. She enjoys a lot of fanfic, but generally clicks out as soon if it's slash. I find F/F pairings quite attractive, probably why I write it, but can't come at M/M at all. SNM is right that most slash fic out there is written by ladies and fan fic writers tend to be predominantly female and aged between mid teens to early 40's.
