Has anyone ever noticed that in a multi-page thread, there are always ten post numbers skipped in the numbering scheme? The posts on the first page are numbered, on through 10, but then the posts on the second page are numbered 21 through 30, and the subsequent pages continue from there. Posts 11-20 are mysteriously missing.

Those are mine. And they get blanked out intentionally. It's cnesorship.

Convenient of you to post them all in the appropriate numeric range for simplicity in censorship.

I try to cooperate as best I can, despite what people say.

Just a wild guess here but perhaps they're not missing and the leading digit denotes the page number, in other words, post 24 = 4th post on page 2

Oops, never mind...That "30" on page 2 blows that theory out of the water!

Spanked Jenny -- but even if you ignore the last post on the thread, that pattern is broken on page 1 (where posts should then start with 11). I do think something like you said is what the programmer who wrote the code was thinking, though, and they are just "off by one" (a standard computer programming error).

Perhaps the sagacious Februs may be able to shed some light on this and clear up the mystery of the missing comments...

In my advancing years I think I'd prefer sagacious to salacious

The forum code isn't actually mine although I've heavily customised it. Anyway, I've managed to locate where the post numbers are calculated and it's not being done correctly. I've made a small adjustment which will hopefully fix things.

Nicely done. They look correct now, even in existing threads.

@Februs, while you may be salacious, I ran afoul of auto correct which changed sagacious to salacious (maybe it is a better judge of your character than am I!)
