I've read many reviews by B/D, S/M & CP practitioners who've said it's a stalker series with B/D trappings as opposed to a genuine scene movie. Now, a good scene movie, protesting that abysmal so-called Spanner decision by the European Human Rights court. I'm speaking of that delightful movie, Preaching to the Perverted. Granted, it's a bit over the top in some places (which usually occurs in the entertainment world as they know the public needs to be hit over the head to get the point) but it's still outstanding & far superior to the Fifty Shades series.

What's 'Preaching to the Perverted' actually like? I saw a trailer and got the impression that it was made in the style of a '70's porn comedy.

It is a movie with mostly three dimensional characters - which is saying something for a movie from that period on that subject. It was surprisingly good.

The basic plot:

NOTE - SPOILERS!!! SKIP IF YOU DON"T WANT SPOILERS.

There's this former boy's school Headmaster who is now an MP, one who wants to crack down on porn. His secretary has been with him for years - she used to be his secretary back at the boy's school. They have a target in mind, a dominatrix who puts on semi public shows, but they can't get close to her. It seems she does many things on something called "the internet" and they can barely turn on a computer.

But there's hope!! A woman who goes to their church (or a supporter, I forget, and it's not that important) has a son who runs a computer company. Well, he's struggling to run one. Call him a one man shop doing tech work. He gets hired to make contact on IRC then pressed to go undercover so that they can prove that spankings, whippings, etc are real (not staged). If they are real then the MP can privately prosecute for assault under the theory that you can't consent to be assaulted.

THIS IS WHERE THE SPOILERS REALLY START

As this goes on, we see more of the personal side of the dominatrix. We get to know her as a person, the way we learn more about the computer tech's life. Along the way we discover that the secretary is sex starved and has a massive crush on the MP, who doesn't seem to notice. Oh, and Scotland Yard (or MI 5, or Special Branch - one of those) helps the investigation as much as it can. And as things go on, a relationship forms.

Making a long story short, the tech goes through with it but lies on the witness stand to say it was only play acting. Since he has submitted a sworn statement saying that it was real, he gets convicted for perjury, going to jail rather than sending her to jail. Somewhere along the way, the secretary reveals how interested she is for the MP, talking about how hot it made her to listen to him caning the boys. He reveals that he has the canes in a special room in his basement, there are press who hear about something, and the MP is publicly disgraced.

All in all, it was worthwhile watching.

Followup for what Goodgulf wrote. The movie came out in the 90's. It also has some really good Discipline scenes and shows off a couple of different sub-genera's like needle play, pony play, some outstanding performances (including stuff I highly don't recommend unless you're a professional), an outstanding rubber nun electric scene, spanking machines made out of sewing machines and a guy who gets electrocuted a lot while "living" in bondage. There's also various spankings, paddlings & the like. It's really good & I've always longed for a sequel.

They have already made Fifty Shades Three, in post-production.

the actor is despite his history as a male model extremely good.
He played the in the BBC series with Gillian Anderson as a psychopathic killer, and was very good indeed.
If those of you in the US can see this series then I can thoroughly recommend it.

The 50 shades has just been a banker for the cast, directors and producers.

I saw it. Saw the first one as well. My first piece of advice, if you're going to a movie like this to see the kind of spanking action people on here would like, don't bother. Ain't gonna happen. Not that I have read them but I hear there are three (3) books, so guess what, one more 50 to come. I hear sometime in 2018 for number 3.

I dunno if it's the same saying in English, but we usually say "an accident seldom comes alone".

Ok, I'm going out on a limb here, because I'm going to DEFEND the '50 Shades' books and the first film! First of all, they are NOT spanking stories, they are stories with a little spanking in them. They may not be described with the same excellent quality as we would like, they are definitely mild and not particularly well written or portrayed in the film as far as these events go, but they are in mainstream and have instigated interest in our kink! Yes, they contain BDSM, and the details may not be accurate, but again, it is bringing the subject into the open, and is not porn! I realise the suggestion is that people into BDSM are 'damaged', but you have to take it that in the case of Christian, he is damaged. He uses his power to overcome his past. We all lose ourselves in our kink don't we?
I look at the whole thing as a love story that has more than a few difficulties, with a few thrills along the way, vastly different from the usual type of stories. So, if it has grasped the interest of mostly 'vanilla' people, so what? They couldn't possibly have made the film like the books, but that is no surprise. I think we should celebrate this as at least a little attention to something we love, being brought into the open.
I am going to see the second film and will go with an open mind. I just felt I needed to be a voice (even if I'm the only one) to speak in its defence!

Dammit Elorac! Don't come ruining our fun by being reasonable and open minded. Don't you know that pointless complaining within a demarcate forum fills an important social interacting function and makes people feel better about themselves?!

Glagla, I had noticed, believe me and I resisted the urge, as long as I could, to put you all in your place, as chastised moaners for attacking the opportunity to have such material in mainstream, even if many do not agree with me!

Consider yourselves and your opinions challenged!
I feel better for my little rant too! Lets shake hands and agree to disagree.
Or smack virtual bottoms.
