How do you like your pain?

From the "Author Guide" for this Library's stories:

"Focus

The main focus of stories should be on spanking as opposed to sex or some other fetish (enemas, rectal examinations, foot worship, age-play, diapering etc). We do accept stories that can be classified within the Romance genre, but these must be primarily spanking stories as opposed to a love story with a few swats thrown in."

No, he's right. There are of course other criteria to be considered as well.

Pain is integral for me in a spanking story, the pain level of course varies.

A story involving judicial caning is going to describe much more pain than one in a average domestic scenario.

Personally extremes of pain are fine, as it is fiction.
What spoils a story for me are scenarios where for example a heavy extended caning is administered, yet the description of the spankees reaction and demeanour, during and post caning does not fit with the severe nature of the scene.

Likewise when a mild otk spank is described, but the spankee is reported to be in lot of pain, heavily marked etc, this again turns me off a story.

Yes, pain does play a major role.

To be fair a spanking story must have pain in it. The pain of being caught out, the anguish and torment of the expected punishment and of course the pain of the spanking itself.
For the connoisseurs the after-pain of the punishment, the resulting ridges, bruises and the funny feeling of...
I don't quite know how to describe it, pride, regret, sexual stimulation... all of these.

So, a resounding yes from me.

I like pain in my stories - just as long as it doesn't hurt.

Sitting here a few days after a total knee replacement I don't want to go through pain like that ever again.

However a moderately severe stinging pain from the cane in erotic circumstances is entirely different.
