Cate Blanchett to get on-screen spanking?

The subject of Lucy's spankings on the I Love Lucy show always interested me for several reasons. 1st since she was the lead actress and a producer she would have been able to say yes to spankings or no. Two since the writer Madelyn Carrol was Lucy's understudy she would have to have been spanked as well as I heard that she had to do everything 1st as a woman to see if Lucy could do them. Third while Lucy was more of a spanker in her movies and later tv shows it was exciting to see her spanked in her show (I do think I had to have gotten my start with them as I was a child of the electronic baby sitter and would have had all those shows and maybe that led me on my path to being a spanko) So I also think once she was spanked it opened the door for other spankings. In another twist I seem to remember this later movie called Dotty gets Spanked in which the main character plays a ditzy blonde (redhead) that is not only the star, but the director, writer and producer and she herself writes and directs her spankings on how the spankee is supposed to be positioned and spanked loud enough so it is picked up by the sound equipment. Back to the original post by Phil it would be nice to see a spanking to Cate ala Dotty and Lucy where she did write her own spankings and I do wonder if it ever happened in the marriage between Desi and Lucy as it did seem that the show had to have a little of their chemistry even spanking as she did seem to fit over his lap well or took her spanking while suspended or even said something to the effect that "Yes, I was a bad girl and you can spank me later for it..." in one episode. But I am biased as well I think any actress is ripe for an otk spanking no matter the age or character that they portray. Cate was quite spankable in Cinderella as the stepmother and in some of her other movies as well. So I do think the pre pc might get the spankings in, but I also have to agree that the recreations lack the chemistry of the originals and they will have a different slant that what we know about the stars today to what was known back then. As for "Dotty Gets Spanked", I believe it was partly based off of the Lucy show and real title should have been "How this director became a spanko at a young age and grew up to make movie with spanking in them". It starts in the 50s or 60s when his mother has a friend over (who is the mother of a girl the boy knows) and the topic causally turns to spanking... He's zoned out watching the TV (the Dotty Show) and the visiting mother says something like:
I don't know how you can him to be so quite. My daughter's always bouncing off the walls. Her daddy calls her the most spanked girl he knows. Do you have to spank him much?"
The son listens intently, but his mother says they don't believe in spanking and the conversation shifts to something else.

It was an interesting movie to watch as it had many things in it that many spankos did when they were young.

And when discussing nudity and the like in 1930s movies don't forget the nude swimming scene of Maureen O'Sullivan in Tarzan and His Mate (1935) as Jane. She also is wearing a torn dress type costume in the film and appears to have nothing under it. Don't believe thong underwear was around in the 30s.
With the Code, notice that later Tarzan movies have Jane wearing more.

I remember seeing some pics of Betty which were apparently part of a deck of "naughty" playing cards. I guess she posed for some nude shots (probably to pay the rent or something) and signed a release for the rights, not unlike Marilyn Monroe's famous nude shots on red satin, which subsequently became Playboy's first centerfold and cover shot (they were not shot by Playboy). And let's not forget Joan Crawford who also posed nude for still photos and actually did some short porn films (then called "smokers") before she started getting legit acting jobs and became famous.

As for the pre-Code days and spankings, there were a number of on-camera spankings, usually presented in a very matter-of-fact way, as spanking was quite common in early twentieth century America, both for children and young women (and errant wives and daughters). I've seen a number of spanking scenes from silent movies, usually of a fully clothed miscreant (and nearly always female) but scenes of spankings of children were commonplace, again, usually of a fully clothed child (sometimes on a underwear-covered bottom with skirt up or pants down) and also usually brief and matter-of-fact. This trend continued into the early talkies as well and, since traditional discipline of children and, occasionally older girls and boys wasn't one of the things that was proscribed by the Production Code, it continued, albeit perhaps less often. I guess the Code wasn't all bad...

As for spanking in early 20th century movies, it was often treated as matter-of-factly as someone eating their lunch or taking a bus to work. It was just an accepted part of everyday life that made it into a movie because it was just a part of every day life. But after the Code, some of the spankings were added as moral lessons. For example, in Blondie Hits The Jackpot, a studio executive decided that the "guilty must suffer" bit of the code wasn't being observed. That girl had cost a grown made his job - HIS JOB - and there had to be comeuppance. The original script just called for an apology, but someone thought that something more was needed. As a result, as you can see in the movie at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XosEqfyLSY at 59 minutes in the girl's apology is expanded to a request for a maternal spanking. One that is given, then played for laughs when she's asked to stay and sit for supper (she agrees to stay, but prefers to stand), adding a minute or so the film.

If Kate does go over some actor's knee it won't be a surprise as spanking seems to be appearing more and more in mainstream media:
