Just got back from seeing 50 Shades of Grey, I watched it with my husband and daughter, which some people may find uncomfortable, but it wasn't for us, it is cringe free in our opinion. I feel that the story portrays an innocent virgin being introduced to eroticism in an extremely touching and exciting way. It stays pretty close to the book, the spanking content was minimal, but believable and I think we should rejoice in the fact that it is in the public eye and well sought after! I can't understand the severe criticism, what do people want?
It does suggest that Christian is damaged and that is why he likes to "hurt women", but that is just in this story, not indicating that everyone who is into such things must be damaged. Just look at "Criminal Minds" and "CSI" profiles, not everyone is a killer!
Anna is something of a wimp though, six licks with a belt has her running in the opposite direction to Christian at the end of the film. We know, however, that she runs right back to him in book two, so no worries there!
I'm sure it will not appeal to men in the same way it does to women, but please don't be put off by negative reviews, go and see for yourself and if you don't enjoy it, that's a shame. This is my review and I'm not ashamed to admit it gave me a thrill!
