If that is true (and I am sure you wouldn't just make that up Bogiephil) I hope Vlad realises that under the new laws he would be in danger of losing his own driving licence! Wouldn't that be a delightful irony?

I was surprised that there weren't more protests during the Olympic games regarding the the lack of tolerance for gays. They -The Russians seem trapped in the early 50's in terms of values and freedoms. So I'm not surprised by this last announcement.

I confess I may have been indulging in some wishful thinking, but it wouldn't matter anyway. The laws don't apply to people like Putin. Laws are for the little people...
