Spanking Reference on The Vicar of Dibley

I just got through watching an episode titled The Easter Bunny. In the opening scene Alice explains to Gerry (the Vicar) that the town of Dibley has its own Easter Bunny. Gerry tells Alice, "You're lying, and if you don't apologize, you're going to be punished." She picks up a flat back hairbrush, shakes it at Alice and adds, "And this will be featured prominently in your punishment, and your pants won't." As Alice was wearing a dress in this scene, I think it is safe to assume that Gerry was talking about pulling down her underpants, and spanking her bare bottom.

Oh she definitely was. I'm amazed that this isn't picked up on more often. It seems strangely out of character for Gerry, but I often imagined her spanking Alice before that episode and definitely after.

Yes, Geraldine, for all her personal insecurities, is definitely the authority figure in this relationship. Although this is quite a gentle comedy in many ways, one of the church council members is clearly gay or at least bisexual, another has sex with animals and a third is blatantly promiscuous, and even the vicar herself has an unfortunate affair for which she receives only sympathy and no condemnation whatsoever - so a threatened spanking is pretty mild!

I've read this in a few of our stories where 'your pants didn't do anything wrong.'

I watched another episode of The Vicar of Dibley over the weekend with a spanking reference (sort of.) Only LSF members would get it though. In the episode, Dibley Live, the congregation is in charge of radio programing for one week. Geraldine is going through some of her personal belongings to find a suitable prize for the person who puts on the best program. She finds a Black Sabbath album, given to her by an old boyfriend. he had written a message to her on it in which he referred to her as Flopsybunny. Hummmm. Could the vicar of Dibley be OUR Flopsybunny? Now we know why she threatened Alice with a spanking. Or it could possibly be coincidence, but that theory isn't nearly as much fun.
