Bogiephil1:
I spent most of my money on wine, fast women and slow horses. And the rest of it I just pissed away..."
That was George Best, Irish footballer extraordinaire, and it is one of my favorite quotes too. The actual quote attributed to him is: " I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered." Your version may actually sound better, especially the "pissed away" part.
George Best had a reputation as a player, on and off the field. Some of his other quotes:
"If you'd given me the choice of going out and beating four men and smashing a goal in from thirty yards against Liverpool or going to bed with Miss World, it would have been a difficult choice. Luckily, I had both."
"I used to go missing a lot... Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World."
"I've stopped drinking, but only while I'm asleep."
"In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol - it was the worst 20 minutes of my life."
It also reminds me of a quote attributed to Mickey Mantle, who in addition to being a great baseball player, was also a great partier and drinker. Well after his baseball career was over, Mick supposedly said, 'If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself."
