It seems that scientists have now discovered that friends share 1% of their genes with each other & that it is that segment of their genetic makeup that evolves the fastest. To me, this suggests all sorts of possibilities regarding our group's interest since CP is so widespread these days. Perhaps, the day will come, when Spankos will be the dominate humans on the planet.

We share 99.9% of our genes with each other on account of being the same species. :/

True, but according to this new study; we make friendships based on 1% of our genes. Check the link.

Even ignoring the fact that the lady doesn't seem to understand the difference between the genome itself and human genetic diversity, kin recognition is nothing new. This is possibly the worst piece of science journalism I've ever seen.

I find much of what is published in the social sciences, and often even in the "hard" sciences to be greatly entertaining. In this case, without good before and after measurements, one might even try to make the case that friendship alters the genomic makeup leading to an increase in similarity between friends of an additional 1%.

A person can do wonderful things with statistics, and a skilled analyst can easily take one data point and project a trend.
