Please don't hit children. There are other and better ways to show them that some kinds of behaviour are unacceptable.

I heard a story about a lady who sued a furniture store because she suffered an injury due to an out of control child running about. I think it was along the lines of unsafe environment. The kicker in this is that it was her kid!

Although perhaps historically of interest, one has to question the wisdom of discussing actual, rather than fictional, child spanking on a site such as this.
