Just got back from a visit to my lovely friend Sandrine (aka sweetbeast) in the south of France. We visited several of those enchanting little hill-towns and ruined chateaux that you find all over Languedoc and Provence. One of them was the little town of Lacoste above which, on the summit of the hill overlooking an impressive panorama of the Provencal landscape, stands the chateau built by the notorious Marquis de Sade.

Of course, such an occasion had to be appropriately marked. So, finding a convenient stretch of low stone wall, I sat down, turned Sandrine over my knee, bared her lovely round bottom and spanked her soundly, eliciting some gratifying yelps. As far as we noticed there was nobody else around; but I like to think that the spirit of le divin marquis was hovering somewhere nearby, smiling benevolently....

You old romantic Phil. It sounds lovely.
It would have been downright rude not to carry on the tradition of the chateau.
Seems to me the French Tourist Board have missed a marketing oppertunity.

Or somebody certainly has.

You know Rick, there could be nice wee story lurking in there. Honeymoon couple visit the chateau, proceedings influenced by the Ghost of the Marquis.
I'd have a go but I've lost my mojo just now.

Lovely (and very uh, ...stimulating story) but it's unlikely the old boy was smiling benevolently, if his spirit was indeed around. Despite the various romanticisms surrounding his legend, he very much lived up to his name, which, after all, gave us the word "sadist". He was one very, very sick puppy and into a lot of sick shit, including sex (rape, really) with young children of both sexes and both oral and anal penetration, aside from the usual whippings and beatings and other "sadistic" behavior. He finished his days in prison, ordered there by none other than Napoleon himself, who was so outraged and disgusted by reading "Justine", which had just been clandestinely published, that he ordered the Marquis imprisoned forthwith. Because of his wealth, the Marquis carried on much of his "misbehavior" (ahem) in prison without too much trouble but it's just as well he was locked up. Someone that deeply disturbed with that much money and power was hardly benevolent. He was much more a public menace.

Sorry to harsh your mellow but he was no one to admire in any way, shape or form...

Again, sorry to disillusion you but the seemingly common view of DeSade as a relatively harmless, slightly kinky aristocrat who liked to spank his various mistresses is very far off the mark. If he were a fictional character and existed more or less in the recent past, he would likely be in the cell next to Hannibal Lecter in "Silence of the Lambs". If he had just confined himself to fantasy and writing "pornographic" novels, he would have been harmless, but he was a wealthy man who could afford to indulge himself in pretty much anything he wanted. And he did...

Certainly I didn't mean to discourage any writing about the subject and of course his old chateau is harmless enough as a setting for a spanking story but imagining him as a benevolent, if somewhat "naughty" old spirit encouraging kinky sex and/or spanking, or both, is a bit much, IMO.

At least you picked a suitable place, Phil. I hope you both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It sounds rather delightfully decadent.
