Yes that was my first answer as well, except the choices do not include 'bbb'. So perhaps bb is best but then if the series starts over again it would be 'ba' would it not?

What are you using this sequence for, CS ?
I just did a search on it, and the consensus seems to be 'bb'

Make a note that your friends on a Spanking writer's site say......that must count for something !

The answer is 'bb' because they are only asking for the next two places, not the entire next sequence. They are just being tricky.

I suspect that there are several different rules which would be consistent with those opening 9 letters, and as you are never asked to explain your reasoning for your answer the question is not "Can you do a logic puzzle?" but "Can you guess what I am thinking?"
In which case, one has to look for clues elsewhere in culture, and since the same question was formulated only a bit differently in a famous book into "What have I got in my pocket?" the answer must be "o" for a ring.

Okay, with all the a, b, aa, bb's etc....I was keeping up here. But now Ollie has thrown an 'o' into the equation, I'm lost!

Ollie, aren't you are over-thinking it? (Boy, it feels good to say that......it usually gets said to ME!)
