I just read a story that reminded me of a song, one that I thought I'd share. It's title is The Creature of the Woods and it's sung from the creature's point of view. Alas, the creature doesn't really say what she (or he) is, only what it isn't.
I've been alive since time began,
not beast, not god, and yet not man
I am the music and the dance,
I am the piper who enchants
So loose all ties to mortal kind,
my pipes shall play within thy mind
I shall be thy lover
And all the verses end with that last line:
I shall be thy lover
There's just something so insistent about the simple repetition of those words.

There's even an interesting story about the person you hear on that video. Heather Alexander was the artist who wrote and sings the song and she has found the courage to chart her own tale. In 2006 she wandered away with the fairies and did not return. In her place was found Alexander James Adams, a singer who takes up many of her old songs while adding new ones.
