Waitress: "Wow it's may 1st "

Patron: "Yes it is happy May Day"

Waitress: "Oh May Day? Is Today Special?

Patron: Yes (pause) Well the Russians (Union of Soviet Socialist Republic) kind of ruined it.

Waitress: Ruined it?

Patron: They decided to have a parade and call it May Day.

A quick update for those ladies who were unable to attend the Sapphic Society Mayday Maypole.

The weather was gorgeous; Spring has finally arrived in the northern hemisphere for all of us except Jessica. Jools never arrived, so perhaps she has gone into 'down under' hibernation already.

JessicaK was first there, dressed in form-fitting Eskimo furs, even though the dress code was "bare bums and breasts" – she told us it was a Canadian ritual to dress like that, and earned her first caning for this nonsense. Norah pitched up with her flute and kept us all dancing with her Gaelic melodies and the frequent refills she forced on us from the bottle of Baileys Irish Cream. FiBlue arrived early, and put up a spirited dancing performance; you should have seen how high she leapt when we swished her after she asked if she could invite some of her men friends to join in. RachelRedbum was there, dancing with flair, and quoting juicy pieces of her work in progress to all who would listen. And speaking of juicy pieces, Janine showed some real flair; her twists and twirls were amazing, and the way she swished the poor ladies around her had everyone wondering if she is a "Top in the Closet"

I am sorry that more of the Sapphic Society couldn't make it, or perhaps they received their invitations too late. We missed you all – IC where the feck were you when we needed our caramel sauce poured over the hot chocolate desert ?

Gail.....What a party my head hurts from all the Baileys... but I had a great time around the May Poll...... got the date in my diary for next year

It WAS a lot of fun, gail dear, and so wonderful to interact with lovely LSF ladies...my 2014 calendar already has a white ribbon tucked into that page as a reminder...

But I was wondering... I read somewhere that the Maypole is actually a phallic symbol... is that why we erect the Maypole before we dance around it?

Thanks for the invite AND the swishing! So much fun! I will have to remember to mention those men friends each and every year.

Oh JJ, that is SO NOT ON !!! No way can we have the Sapphic Society dancing around one of those again!! We are not the Phallic Society - we will leave Rick and CS to dabble in that type of thing. (Marlowistas, Inner Inner Circles, Phallic Circles...oh my, my head spins, especially after all that Baileys)

Anyway, Maypoles are so passe now; they are last year's thing (oops excuse the pun).

2014 will be a fresh and inspiring theme for May Day; I actually heard it on the grapevine that there was a some real sensual hardcore being proposed as one of the many alternatives. Can sensual and hardcore be used together? You bet they can...like Norah and Baileys Irish Cream, or Janine and Juicy, Jessica and Rituals, Fi and boys, IC and Black Forest Gateau etc they go hand in hand....but you have to stay tuned the Sapphic Society story queue to find out more.

Adult warning: the beater reader (we don't do beta readers in Sapphic Society) had a near melt-down during her reading. She promptly downed a whole bottle of Baileys to sooth her nerves and find an alternate outlet for her lust - and then had the nerve to blame her over-indulgence on the May Pole dance !!!

So sorry to have missed it, dear Gail. I was rather preoccupied with tanning my cheeks in what remains of the sizzling heat in the sensational Southern Hemisphere.
