Back in those days they used actual whips. Serious harm and permanent injury could result. You didn't want to chance damaging the heir so they selected a whipping boy, the idea was that the heir would be friends with the whipping boy and thus feel bad when the whipping boy was whipped.

I can take your sins over me. It's an old story... about 2013 years ago i remember something similar. Anyway i can imaging a story about a spell, every time someone is spanked the spelled boy (or girl) suffer the stroke... to break the spell i think a confession... the sin that win the sin...

I can just imagine the Prince, (as the whipping boy is being punished), refusing point blank to confess or apologise and taunting the punisher with comments like," is that the best you've got?" and " you're not really hurting me you know".
