I was searching on the net for a posh surname for a character in my next Sapphic Society story, and was looking up Broadbottom.

This genealogical posting title gave me cause to pause

"Betty Moss (nee Sidebottom) in Broadbottom...."

My father at one time worked overseas construction jobs (heavy equipment operator) and one of his many buddies was a man named Sidebottom. Don't remember his first name but he was a nice man who always had with him his teacup Chihuahua. He actually carried it in his shirt pocket.

Don't know if he was British or if Sidebottom is "posh" (or Broadbottom for that matter). Just thought I'd mention it...

I don't think Sidebottom is particularly posh. There's a current-ish England cricketer called Ryan Sidebottom, whose Dad incidentally also played for England at cricket ( and Man Utd at football). So posh, possibly not but sporty yes.

Both true Yorkshiremen born and bred and proud of it! Definitely not posh.

I believe Broadbottom is also a village served by a railway station, in Greater Manchester. Maybe Febs can take Flopsy there and take her (rear view) picture by the sign on the platform.

That's where my research took me...Broadbottom and neighbouring village Sidebottom.

This is why I found the query so funny, apart from the obvious spanking potemtial.

I have not heard of Sidebottom or Broadbottom but I have heard of Longbottom. Maybe someone should write a story about the aristocratic family of Redbottom whose Family Seat is Buttocks Manor?

There are quite a few old English surnames such as Longbottom, Widebottom, Breakybottom, Higginbottom etc. Disappointingly, these refer to the valley bottoms where the original owners of the surnames lived, rather than to any physical peculiarity of the family.

Slightly off topic but I did once live near Six Mile Bottom!

I know nothing about English towns and villages, and wouldn't know a Broadbottom from a Sidebottom from a WideBottom. But I think Flopsy may have already been there, since it is the opening setting to at least one of her stories (Caveman Spanks) which I just read in her Bad Boy Spanking Book (written under her nom de plume, Lucy Appleby). The story is also available here in the LSF.
