There was one caning reference in Please Sir that I can remember. They had a new class and one kid from the new ones insulted one of Alderton's favourites. He said he had something in his desk that would make the kid change his mind and the new boy thinking he meant the cane immediately fled the room, only for Alderton to produce an essay written by his former student.
