I have always admired the techie skills shown on this site and appreciate the hard work to keep it up to date and so interactive. I have one request, but thought maybe others have no problem in this regard. So I was wondering what others thought of my request/wish/perhaps impossible dream.

I write a few comments, enough to keep me ahead of the 1/500 rule, (LMAO) however I often wished there was a "Spell Check" on the comment section of a story, just as there is on the forum. I have no idea if this is possible considering time/effort/cost but it is something I would use a lot.

CS, I actually get a red line under a word I misspell in the comments section of a story. Strange.

In my opinion, functions such as spell-checking should really be provided by the web browser. Firefox certainly has one which I make regular use of, I assume IE does not.

No it doesn't, sadly. I don't know why it shouldn't.

Ok I agree....darn it!!

I do not like Firefox and will have to find a way around the problem myself. There is more then one way to skin a cat as the old saying goes. Thanks for the information folks, I never would have known without you.

I feel comfortable making short comments without a spellchecker. For long comments, I write them in Word or Outlook and spell check them there and then copy and paste them. A little more trouble but a lot less embarrassing.

There are many ways around the problem. One way is to use Chrome. Another way is to download a spell checker add-on for Internet Exploder. A quick Google search will tell you all you need to know.

There is no reason to confine yourself to one browser. Myself, I use Firefox for the LSF, Chrome for all forums (because of the spell checker) and IE for general web surfing.

The perfect spell-checker is reading what one writes before hitting that revelationtastic button. Oh, but nothing will affect a correctly spelled word in the wrong place/context. Just a dumb thought ...

Technology takes over these little jobs, and that allows our brains to move on to bigger and better things. I have learned to depend on spell checkers in the same way that I depend on calculators to do math. I was in my mid 20's when I got my first calculator. I never looked back! My once-treasured aluminum slide rule is sitting buried in a desk drawer for my grandkids to find and marvel at after I die.
