Fined for admiring "a very nice backside."

As a little diversion does anyone think it's strange that people are often prosecuted more for the unintended though perhaps predictable results of their actions rather than for the actions themselves ?

This is an unusual example - most often someone will be treated more harshly if their inattention whilst driving causes a crash than if the same action doesn't result in any damage. I expect even in this case he'd have been treated more harshly if he'd actually hit anything whilst doing his hormonal duty.

Yes, Ollie, I often think about that, particularly in connection with the man who fell asleep at the wheel and caused a terrible train crash. He was treated as more or less "evil" and imprisoned, while I know of a local woman who injured herself badly after falling asleep at the wheel and everyone has enormous sympathy for her, yet there's really no difference between them except luck. There's still a strong element of revenge, or "an eye for an eye" in the law, I think

If someone shoots at someone and kills that person, the shooeter can be tried and convicted of murder. If he/she misses, he/she faces the lesser charge of attempted murder. I've never heard anyone having a problem with THAT. So that's the difference between that and charging a driver with, say, wreckless operation for some action where no one was hurt, and the greater charge of vehicular homicide if someone dies? Consequences of actions DO matter.

Given some some of the couples I've seen together, yes I think that's possible. I'm sure it has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that the guy is a mega-millionaire. So sure, this locksmith, or whatever he was, would surely have a chance!

Ordalie - the picture in the Daily Mail was not of the woman who diverted the driver. It says this clearly by the picture. The Mail just thought their readers might not know what a sexy bum looked like and so they included a picture.

You're right! I hadn't read the caption!

Maybe a warning would have sufficed, instead of a fine, since there was no accident.
In general though I have no problem with police cracking dowm on inattentive drivers- though it is more likely they are texting or on the cell phone, instead of girlwatching.
I believe there is a story here called "Bike Shorts" where a girl who struts around in tight bike shorts and no panties and causes a guy to crash his car gets spanked by a policewoman.
