I agree with jools (above) and mati.

Just as a single data point. It hasn't worked that way for me. The Mrs and I are nearing our 4th decade together.

Maybe we should ask your Mrs what she thinks about these decades?

What a thing to say!! Of course its natural. If you are in love with someone monogamy is the most natural thing in the world. It's even easier when you know a painful death awaits you if you stray though!!

This started as a discussion of "How to handle a woman" and is now "How to stay married". With the greatest respect to all, the two questions are nothing like the same.

How to handle a woman: make the decisions. She'll want you to anyway so there's an alibi when it's the wrong one. Sometimes, if you are needed for some chore, she might remember to give you credit for the correct decision you happened to make.

How to stay married: the first row is when you point out to her the previous hometruth (foolish man). Get past that and you might last a while together.

Perhaps not identical questions, but they are certainly intimately related.

My experience is it can't be done!! Or maybe only by certain alpha male types wearing superman t-shirts!!

Sounds boring. I think in this case I would have made it at most 20 weeks and not twenty years.
