Have just checked for new material at the Yahoo group, SpankingPages, to find that it is gone-and it was there yesterday.
What a shame. It was one of the first spanking sites I joined back in 2005 and have kept up with it, posted stuff, and participated in Chat when Yahoo groups still had that.
Have to wonder why. It was never a spam dump, and certainly there are many Yahoo groups that feature much more hardcore explicit sexual material than this one. Guess Yahoo decided spanking discussions were unacceptable.
Know that a couple people here, Crimson Kid and DerrTRichard, were active in the site and I am sure they, and anyone else here who was a member, will be upset and disappointed too.
So many Yahoo groups are either inactive, or spamholes, that is a terrible shame to lose this one, and all the great pics, stories, and comments on it.

RSL, I did a search like this:

Why are yahoo groups disappearing

I came up with numerous hits regarding groups no longer valid.

Depressing, although I am not familiar with the site. Perhaps it was hardcore, in which case warnings should suffice, together with a declaration of acceptance.

On principle, without knowing whether it deserves to be resurrected, I hope its organisers will put it back up under a different name. On principle, all censorship is evil.

I don't think so as spanking groups are quite harmless in comparison to other yahoo-groups. A very frequent reason is that the owner of a group is not longer caring for the group and his account is removed after a certain period of inactivity. Normally Yahoo reinstalls groups very quickly if another moderator asks for it and takes over the ownership. Just write to Yahoo, they have a formula for inquiries on groups.

This group was not inactive by any means. New posts and photos were posted this past week. Hopefully DTR may have some knowledge or insight that he will share with us.He sort of ran the group, I think, and certainly was a frequent poster. And no, it did not contain hardcore sexual content, from what I saw, and I think I knew it pretty well.

i did not see any thing wrong with it either, but sometimes groups just get deleted for no apparent reason. I do know that it did have some spam issues recently and DTR did seem to be the only moderator although there were supposed to be three. There was something about the owner of the site (spankadelic) not being around lately and it may have closed because of that. I think several of the authors here were also authors there and so several of their stories were several different places. i have seen several yahoo groups just vanish with no notifacation and so do not know how it goes back to being an active group.

IIRC the group hardly could be described as having "hardcore sexual content," it was all about spanking and nothing else.

While it wasn't that active of a group, there was pretty much steady albeit moderate activity--it was a site on which I posted my stories over the past couple years.

Of course, if the group owner no longer wished to operate it, that could explain its abrupt disappearance.

Like this Library, 'Spankingpages' was a general spanking-oriented site that accepted stories involving all ages and gender orientations... --C.K.

You said it had photos. That's enough to get a group killed. Someone uploads something explicit under one account then complains about it with a second.

Once the group is killed that person pats himself on his back and feels good about erasing a small amount of porn from the internet.

There is truth in that ... which is why we have a policy of excluding graphics in our story files ...

Yahoo seems to go on these little purges once in a while. There's really very little rhyme or reason as to what gets attention on Yahoo or other places.
