Well, I agree about the Skipper and Gilligan, their personalities struck me as rather passive.
Would the Professor be spanking Ginger and Mary Ann for some perceived 'naughtiness' on their part, or simply because they both have sweetly spankable derrieres and he has 'toppish' spankophile tendencies?
Of course, he'd probably prefer to have a "scientific reason" to smack the young ladies' bare bottoms, but after all he's a highly intelligent person--he could fabricate a reasonable-sounding pretext for their punishments, I'm certain.
"Really, Professor, the only way to divert that tsunami headed toward the island is for you to paddle our rear ends really long and hard? Okay, I'll go over your knee first, let me lower my panties for you..." --C.K.
Gilligan was as dumb as a bag of hammers and the Skipper was more of an ineffectual, avuncular "Captain" than anything else (there also has proven to be some speculation as to whether Gilligan really
was the Skipper's "little buddy". That might explain a lot). The Professor would be the default for almost anything as far as Ginger
or Mary Ann were concerned. There was always Thurston Howell III, but I'm sure that "Lovey" kept an eagle eye on her husband at all times. In fact, she might have spanked him (he seemed a bit "hen-pecked" anyway).
Perhaps the Professor caught Ginger and Mary Ann "making out" on the beach and spanked both of them for that. Likely they did so on purpose to attract his attention anyway, hoping for the proverbial "slap and tickle" (more slap than tickle) from the only suitable male on the island, perhaps agreeing in advance to share him. The issue of the girls maybe "liking" one another in more than just a friendly way was never addressed on the show, nor was the apparent lack of birth control. You would expect at least one of them to wind up pregnant at some point. After all the show lasted three years...
