Recently, on another board, I unleashed a diatribe over someone talking about "Grammar Nazis". It was similar to the one I usually spurt when Nazis are brought up - because I feel that calling someone a "Soup Nazi" (or Grammar Nazi, or any other type of Nazi) detracts from the horror that was the Nazi party. Extra-legal executions (i.e. they could kill practically anyone and get away with it), the camps, the suppression of basic freedoms - you don't get that from Grammar Nazis. And when it comes to "Grammar Nazis" I always make the point that the Nazis didn't care about education for the masses. They wanted the bulk of the population to be barely literate and happy to others think for them.
Then someone posted something to rebut my rant (um, diatribe). If you go to:

I'm still laughing.
