Like I am sure others are, I am a fan of Bettie Page(or is it Paige-see so many spelling variations). Especially of course of her spanking material. There is just something so charming and erotic about those black and white photos, of pretty women in the lingerie of that time(or least the lingerie favored by women doing that sort of modeling.
I am also a fam and seeker-avid of spanking in the comics, both comic books and newspaper strips. Love all those Phantom,Smilin Jack, Lil Abner,Mark Trail, and so on. And of course spankings in superhero comics-there are some good ones in both Superman and Batman.
I visit a couple sites devoted to comics and superhero/heroine spankings. But there is something that bothers me with some of the attitudes expressed- notably that only M/F is really worth seeking out, that F/F is inferior, and that males being spanked is totally beyond the pale. Someone even posted that while Bettie Page was nice, that there never seemed to be any pictures of her being spanked by a male. And that the same was true of Wonder Woman(not counting spanking fakes). And that strong women like Wonder Woman and Xena were ones they'd like to see "tamed" by a spanking from a strong man. And some explicitly expressed their distaste for feminists, blaming them for being a reason that spankings were no longer "politically correct " for comics, movies, or TV. Reminds me of some letters I would see years ago , when as it was called then "women's lib" was just getting started, in Penthouse and other mags that what these "libbers" needed was a good spanking.
I know most of us (hopefully) do not share these attitudes towards feminism, or women, or the view that all women are submissive and need a dominant male hand. Or that all males are dominant.
I don't think I could write, or enjoy reading, a story where Wonder Woman or Xena got "tamed" by a spanking from a man. On the other hand, F/F is fine, in fact I have a story here where Xena and Gabrielle both get spanked by females. And my favorite spanking scenario for Xena involves her getting spanked by her Mom. Darien Takle, who plays her Mom Cyrene, really does come across as one who could haul her warrior princess daughter across her knee, and apply her hairbrush to what Xena sits on in the saddle.
Likewise Wonder Woman and her Mom, the Amazon Queen. Someone did write that story.
I realize these are just my opinions and tastes, but I have to speak up and say while the John Wayne in McLintock angle may be fine in fantasy role play, I don't think it has a place in real life.
I saw an old magazine headline from the 40s or 50s on some spanking site, It was "Should Wives be Spanked?" You can imagine the positive response the author employed.
My opinion- Yes, wives should be spanked, but IF AND ONLY IF, that is what they want to do. Like they say real estate is all about location, TTWD is all about consensuality. And I remember the fine person whom this site is named in honor of said the same thing

I must say I agree with the sentiments expressed. Fancy spanking Wonder Woman! It would be against the natural order of things. Betty Page is one of my absolute favourites too. Irving Klaw was the guy who took a lot of those great photos of her. She wore the sort of underwear (and footwear) you would love to buy for your wife if you only had the nerve!

Well, I've read complaints that the major comic spanking website is totally male chauvinistic in its approach to gender orientation in spanking, although I haven't checked it out--probably at least partially for that reason.

However, I've never had the impression that PENTHOUSE had/has an anti-feminist editorial approach, although it's possible that it did in the early years of its publication. Still, at least by the 1980s the magazine's spanking-oriented letters, in both the regular full-sized version and its digest-sized 'Forum' and 'Variations' sister publications, did feature some F/F and F/M interactions.

IMHO the feminist (women's liberation) movement was certainly correct in condemning the concept that a husband had the 'right' to corporally discipline his wife against her consent. Feminists do seem to be somewhat conflicted about whether it's acceptable or not for a woman to voluntarily submit to being spanked by a man, for either punitive or erotic purposes.

However, it's very difficult to imagine Wonder Woman or Xena: Warrior Princess being "tamed" under any circumstances--likewise for Seven of Nine and Buffy, the Vampire Slayer (although I have written stories in which Seven and Buffy ended up being spanked) ... --C.K.

I believe that as in most things - if someone writes the story/draws the comic etc., there will be a market for what ever it is. It is my understanding that for the most part it has been shall we say "alpha" male- writers writing alpha male stories/comics for alpha male readers. In order for that dynamic to change there needs to be Non-alpha male writers writing for non alpha male readers. It can't be forced but it can be encouraged.

I've got to admit that being spanked by or seeing Wonder Woman, especially the Lynda Carter version, give a spanking is a fantasy. The She-Hulk would make another wonderful fantasy spanker and I doubt that anyone other than her cousin could spank her in return.

I doubt if the readers are mostly alpha males - just desirous of being alpha males!

I read up on Betty Page a few weeks ago and have written an article which will be in issue 6 of the Wellred Weekly. She certainly was an interesting character and a pioneer in her field.

Seegee:

What imagery! Does her skin turn green as she bursts out of her clothes? There's a story challenge for you there, Seegee

I was not saying that Penthouse,or other mags, had a definite anti-feminist bias in those days. Just what some of the letters to the editior about spanking said. On the other hand, believe Hugh Hefner in reference to feminists did say "those chicks are our enemy", meaning enemies of the Playboy philosophy. And in part he was correct-they did oppose the objectification of women as male "playmates". On the other hand we do have to credit Playboy for helping to foster the more open and frank attitude toward sexuality we have today.
Look forward to your Bettie Page article, Flopsy, sure it will be quite interesting.
And barretthunter, think you hit the nail on the head. Reminds me of a Buffy scene. Her 17th birthday is coming up, and Xander,a guy who definitely wanted to be an alpha male, said something about feeling a birthday spanking coming on. The character Jenny Callendar told him "I'd curb that impulse if I were you."
Of course there was that exchange with his girl friend Anya of later seasons about 'we're into spanking"- but it was not clear who spanked who. My money would be on ex-demon Anya as delivering it!

I've always liked the idea of Xena doing the spanking and so I wrote her doing exactly that under the guise of Queen Adrena of the Amazons in episodes 5-8 in Menace From Mongo. Check it out and get your Xena on. There isn't much else in the library on superheroine spanking, as far as I know.

Ah, well. I wrote "Triumph of the Joker", in which a character resembling Batman's foe overcomes two superheroines, and "Punch and Juicy" which features two human young women acting out a fantasy of being Xena and Gabrielle and coming unstuck against a contemporary Mr Punch.
