I thought you said you and your wife have EARREADERS!

I don't know about ear-readers, but I have ear-mic which will capture mumbled words through bone conduction and send them to my cell. 007-like thing. I talk through my ears at times.

Hiya Sugarmouse, I asked my friend about setting passwords oh Kindles and she said it was possible. I then found a link on the Amazon site explaining how to do it. I will try add the link here for you:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_k2start_pass?nodeId=200375 510&#kpassword

hope this helps

Thank you jools it was deliciously easy with those instructions. I think everyone here can guess the password but mercifully I suspect my brother can't

I bought a Kindle this week and have been quite busy with other things so not really spent much time on it but I did download some spanking stories and had the same thought, 'What if someone picks it up' there is a facility to open files for individual sets of books. I'm copy/pasting the section from the user guide below. I hope it helps. I did the below instruction and have place all my spanky books in there, that way anyone nosing around wont see the "Strange" lol titled books. It looks as though you can also use a password to actually get onto your Kindle but I haven't got that far yet. I hope I've helped, Good Luck and Happy Reading!

Creating collections :
You'll probably reach a point where you want to group items for easier access. The Collections
feature lets you do this. Create a new collection by pressing the Menu button while on the
Home screen. Select Create New Collection, then use the onscreen keyboard to type a name
for the collection. You can add as many items as you like to each collection, and you can add
an item to more than one collection.

Thanks titch. I've had to 'collection' my books already but the password to get into the actual Kindle itself is definitely going to be my saving grace Isn't it a great gadget when you're travelling?!

Call me an old stick in the mud but I have never much fancied a kindle! I mean can you read it in the bath? Does it smell like a book? Old paper always has that slightly damp smell that I love. A book can't run out of battery life. You can leave them in a pile by your bedside gathering dust. Old books have a charm but I fail to see the charm of yet another electronic device. Hopefully I shan't find one in my stocking. Fortunately my family can be relied upon to buy me socks, after shave or the latest Bernard Cornwell novel. Although a certain librarian has promised me a bottle of single malt for Christmas which I am greatly looking forward to!

To be honest sugarmouse, I'm not brilliant with wi fi and certain other technology, I love it and am learning all the time but I had a problem registering my Kindle. I received an email telling me that it had been automatically registered by Amazon but it hadn't and I couldn't use most of the functions, thankfully my cousin came and showed me what to do, so now everything works and yes! they are brilliant. I don't travel much but do spend quite a lot of time waiting around and it is not always conveniant to carry a big thick book, the Kindle slips in my pocket. What really amazes me though, I can select a book on Amazon and it is on my Kindle in less than a minute. I still haven't read up on the password but I will! I hope you have many hours of fun with it.

I quite agree Arthur, I love my books and hate parting with them. My niece bought a Kindle earlier this year and I said "No way would I thank you for one of those, I like to feel and smell a book" that hasn't changed but there are times when carrying a book or several books isn't practical. I will most certainly still be reading the real thing but I have changed my view on the Kindle, it as its time and place, to be honest I'm pleased with it!

What bores me to tears is having to read instructions for any new electronical device, failing to get the knack of it, and knowing there's NOBODY around who can help me .
