FEBS,

Breathtaking firework display (see Kilahara Header at top of page) to commemorate the anniversary of Guy Fawkes ill fated effort to clear Westminster of all the rats and fat cats.

I just hope that this Pyrotechnic extravaganza has not damaged the budget in a serious way.

Rumours are rife of job losses at Crisp Factories, Strathspey Malters and Harvey's Bristol Cream due to a possibility of a downturn in orders from a significant regular customer.

I fear if the Library Staff find any limitations on life's small essentials it could go down like a damp squib!!

The fireworks were paid for out of the library Donations box which when emptied was found to contain a grand total of 87 pence, 50 cents, 2 buttons, some half-eaten chewing gum, an out of date supermarket voucher and an IOU.

Don't tell anyone but that was because I had 'acquired' the other £10 to buy more crisps

Fireworks... bah!

Take heart..I will contribute 5 cents immediately to the fund. Please expect the mail to contain the money, I had to send it postage due so please don't spend the 5 cents all in one place.

I'd just like to further point out that the IOU was signed AJB...

One of my favourite graffiti: "Vote Guy Fawkes - the only man to enter Parliament with honest intentions".

Totally off topic, but here is my favorite graffiti on the decay of Western society:

Socrates: "To be is to do"
Sartre: "To do is to be"
Sinatra: "Do Be Do Be Do"

Even further off topic, but on decay, and enough to make you contemplate suicide perhaps, is Hamlet as text message:

"2 B R 0 2 B, i.e the Q."

I saw a French actor give a weird take on that line:
"To be or not? To be, that is, the question."
Punctuation, eh? Don't ya just love it! (Linda! Where are you?)

It reminds me of the story of the professor who asked his students to punctuate the following sentence,

A woman without her man is nothing.

The male students wrote:

A woman, without her man, is nothing.

Whilst the female students wrote:

A woman: without her, man is nothing.

I remember once hearing two similar punctuation malfunctions (possibly by an actor) but I'm not sure exactly where they came from. Would be interested to find out, if anyone knows.

"What is that in the road? A head?"

"What is this thing called, Love?"
