Yes it's foolish and completely unfair but that's our wonderful free market economy for you! If we paid people what they were actually worth all the bankers, politicians, car clampers, estate agents, TV personalities etc would be going around in rags begging for peoples spare change. Of course you could always vote Communist which might save you the bother of ever having to vote again! It is strange how it's perfectly acceptable to pay someone millions for juggling a ball or driving a car fast but we can't be bothered to pay those people who care for us in hospital a decent wage!

While I agree with Arcane and Blimp, I wish to return to the original subject. Manchester United is a debt-laden international business with a sideline in football and assets largely in the Far East, owned by a family of asset-strippers. Manchester City is what the Sheikh did when he got bored with the hareem.

Both, of course, are provincial outfits not to be mentioned in the same breath as the colossuses (colossi?) of the capital like Queen's Park Rangers.

And meanwhile my team, Sheffield Wednesday spent 10 years trying to pay off the mere bagatelle of £20 million (Wayne Rooney's salary for 4 years) before a very nice Serb bought them for a quid, and they languish (quite successfully right now) in the Third Division (though it's consoling to call it League One.)
