I've been having this time crunch - stealing time to come by here (at least it feels like I'm stealing it) and having no time to write. I've also got a work in progress that's about 60+ pages (times new roman, 10 point font) so far. So since I don't have time write I've decided to try something new and post what I have as a serial - say a page or so at a time. It's a model that worked for Dickens (although he was getting paid by the word...) and maybe it will work here.

And yes, I do plan to post the story here - probable in bite sized chunks as opposed to one long story - but only when it's completed. If you want to wait, that's cool, but if you want to see the start of it now that's cool too.

I'm posting it at my blog at:

You don't have to sign up to view the blog (at least I can view without signing in) but you do have to create an account on the site if you want to comment on the blog. Oh, and it's not going to be a spanking an update - in fact I'm on part four or five (I seem to have lost track since I'm not numbering them) and so far the only reference to spanking has been to one happening on a TV show. Something to set the scene and explain just how different the other world is.

Normally I complete a story before I post it, but I'm currently posting a Work In Progress on my blog at http://www.spanko.net/profile_blogs/Goodgulf/
The first entry is at
http://www.spanko.net/profile_blogs/Goodgulf/&action=view&id=741
but, well, not to be critical, but after poking around a bit I haven't be able to go from blog entry to blog entry without going to the main listing.

What's the story about?

The setting is partly inspired by H. Beam Piper's Paratime series... Well, okay, it's inspired by authors that were inspired by his work. The basic concept is that there are a near infinite number of Earths, each slightly different because something different happened in each world's history. You have worlds where England won the Hundred Year War, when the Allies lost in WWII, where New Coke was never launched - basically where virtually every possible alternative history has played out somewhere in these near infinite number of worlds.

Of course, what good is having all these world if you can't travel between them?

The start of the story is set in a world much like our own, only it has joined the community of worlds that are linked by world hoppers. A nearby world is one where magic is important and there is a group of people who want to get certain items from that world into their own. They could do it legally but then there would be taxes, tariffs, duties, import fees, export fees, etc - so they've come up with a plan that involves smuggling things from one world to the other.

The world with the magic...

Okay, enough background (I always do too much background). Here's the story: A third year college student who happens to be short and is always moaning about how she can't afford a boob job gets hired to pretend to be a much younger girl (she's chosen mostly because she can pass as such). Since the world is arrogant and sexist as hell the backers of the plan know that no one is going to bother to really search a teenaged girl when she leaves the world. She's given ten thousand reasons to do the job (money she'll get when she comes home with the product) but no one thought to tell her that world she's visiting has old fashioned views on corporal punishment. Maybe she would have gone if they had explained everything (ten grand is ten grand) but she's surprised by what she discovers.

In addition to spanking, the world is patriarchal - to the point where she is either not consulted on matters or her opinion is ignored. The adults (particularly the men) make the decisions and the girls have no choice but to follow the plan... Okay, there is a choice: follow the plan OR get a spanking and then follow the plan. Don't want to follow the plan after a spanking? Repeat the spanking until the plan is followed.

There are twenty eight parts of the story posted - and looking at them I can see that I'll have to change the divisions before the story gets added to the library. Some of the entries are too short, some are too long, and not all end on good break points. But if you want to read a WIP on a blog, you might enjoy the story.

I'd say just make sure you have a sense of where it's going and how it's going to end. I'm working on a long serial about a mission to a planet that is about at the level of 14th century (in technology and attitude toward women) in an attempt to influence political events so a treaty can be made. I'm going to finish though before I post a word of it.

That's important - I wouldn't have started showing glimpses if I didn't know how it was ending. I've had to go back and do major rewrites because and early section didn't mesh with how things were turning out so I needed to know the end before I was happy with the start.

The posting isn't going as I write it - that would be giving up too much control over rewrites. No, what I'm posting about 20 - 40 pages from the bit that needs to be written, and there's 2 - 3 pages of outline charting the remaining sections.

I was writing a SF series about a planet of women that had buttocks made to be spanked, and I certainly know the end, I always do, because I start with it. But I wrote the background and introduction and several chapters and then I lost the path... I think I'm not good at serials...

As I love SF and the paralel Earth concept, I'll drop by your blog, Goodgulf.

I like the concept - I started a (non spanking) story called "Quanta Words" but made it difficult to jump between the worlds back and forth because of the Uncertainty Principle, but I made it easier on spying on them.

I also like the mixture of science with magic - and you make the magic sound as science - one of the best examples of parallel worlds with well developed magic and insipient science is Randall Garrett's Lord Darcy books.

I liked what I read till now, but you have to re-order the breaks and it looks like Jackie with "ie" is on the brink of her first spanking. Waiting for another installment.

Lord Darcy was a wonderful series - and now it's out in a single oversized volume. All the short stories, the novel, and a new short story (set during the war when D'Arcy and Sean meet) all together... No, they nclude those newer novels (written by someone else) in that - which is a good thing. Those novels are better than nothing but he writer reuses too many characters and situations...

As for her first spanking - what's the last part you can see? Sometimes there's a foul up when it comes to the public seeing the updates... You should be able to see up to part twenty-six.

And the breaks... They are in the wrong place. I'm thinking about doing it day by day when I post it here, with some of the longer days being broken into two.

I thought that that planet was called Earth.
