I gew up in a rural Southern community in the 50s and early 60s. Corporal punishment was used in the lower grades of our school system(1-7) but not at the high school level. Teachers were allowed to spank and some chose to and others not. The principal was a tough but fair woman who had a feared Board of Education paddle. However, it was not often used and only for serious offenses, from the kids who just could not stay out of trouble. That was mostly boys. I never heard of her paddling a girl, although I do not know that it never happened, perhaps after I went on to high school. Admit to having a fantasy in high school-about using her paddle on some of the snooty cheerleaders types, when they were dressed for gym. The girls gym uniforms were white, quite short and the type that had elastic leg ties that I suppose kept too much from being shown when engaged in physical activity. However the girls were allowed to wear their own shorts, and some girls wore them really short and tight. Imagined them having to bend for the paddle. The only time I saw girls punished in school was in fourth grade. The teacher was this old grayhaired lady who used a switch instead of a paddle. On a couple occasions she used it on the backs of girls legs below their dresses, producing crying and yelps.(Boys had to roll up a pants leg for switch strokes-her punishment for failure to do homework). And of course later imagined her with her switch and the girls gym class all lined up in their short shorts, ready to get switched on their naked legs. Remember also there were a couple attractive younger women gym teachers(no co-ed gym in those days, and it was officially called physical education). They'd wear those short gym uniforms sometimes, and I could just picture them getting switched and paddled by an older teacher. |
