Februs:
I reckon hardly a week went by where there wasn't some major disagreement, attention seeking drama,

I think that Pink and blimp provide all the disagreement and drama we need at LSF using merely the minimalist functionality of the current Forum.

I'm not sure how they did it, but they managed to avoid this as The Castle. Possibly because the owner of the place; Ghost, kept such a tight rein on things.

When I chat with someone, I use the pop-up or possibly my e-mail address. For me, it seems to work.

Never thought my suggestion would elicit such an interesting discussion and so many points of view.
Certainly good that the drawbacks and problems that a chatroom could bring out was discussed.
I agree that SIN has had its problems with people playing mind games and the like(though the worst flamin there occurred on the forum that contained alledgely real life spanking accounts).
On the other hand I had some enjoyable experiences with the World Spanking Forum chat, before the site went on hiatus and chat never recovered its participation.
There was a group of regulars that talked about not just TTWD but anything people were interested in. There'd be talk about sports, cars, music, movies, even politics and religion, and people were usually nice with each other. It could have been any sort of chat site except for the fact that we were all there because of our interest in spanking.
The only time I recall a problem was when some troll hassled a lesbian member . He was quickly sent on his way, not just by the women, but by the men as well.
I also participated in a couple Yahoo groups chat sites, before Yahoo discontinued chat for groups ,|Spanking Classics and Spanking pages. On the latter I remember some chats with one of our authors Derr T. Richard. Those were lots of fun too-when there were not problems with the chat aplte loading.
Another problem with chat rooms, and not just spanking ones, is that ofetn they get taken over by a clique of members who are not interested in being welcome or inclusive to newcomers.

I was trying to be flippant in my first post on this thread but allow me to be more serious. SeeGee & Redskinluver's points are only part of my concerns here.

It would be a major job to police and maintain. Februs and his girls are already in way over their heads already and would certainly not want to play the heavy's.

The high level of intelligent discourse & civilized camaraderie is the major reason why I spend so much time here. I would hate to see that diminished.

Like others here I have opened up MANY back-channels of communications with other members. And note the brisk traffic in POM's. Would we really want to add cyber playing, dating services, AND the inevitable flamers and assholes it would attract.

Long live the LSF! Hail Februs!

I still vote NAY!

We now have a very simple chat room.

And if anyone feels offended by some chat that might be going on it - as with those who may feel offended by any story published in LSF - closing down a chat session is just as simple as closing a story.

Seems OK to me.

It is still in the testing phase right now and we are in the process of making it available to authors.
More info soon.

RSK's comment about chatting about things other than TTWD brought back a memory from the old SIN chat room. I met a fellow there who shared my interest in Australian Rules Football. He and spent many hours discussing the game to the total bemusement of everyone else. We regularly had to open a private room so we wouldn't bore the rest of the crowd silly.

Do you mind? You're boring me silly.

... which those premature e-click-ulators do all the time.

Consequently, I'd say it would be highly unlikely that it would be open to the whole membership,

Based on that one comment alone, besides the fact of the numerous techie difficulties, I still say NO. Such things can lead to a few being elevated to a higher degree, even if its in the minds of only a few...yeech... there is enough of that in real life, I come here to get away from real life.
