Has anyone ever thought of setting up a chat room for this site? I wonder if there would be much interest, would be nice, to chat about stories here or whatever took our fancy, spanking-related or no.
Used to go to the World Spanking Forum Chat a few years ago, but then the site went on hiatus and the chat room has been much less active. And then there is SIN(now Spanko) which is always active but little happens outside of pms- no serious group chats.

Although this Forum is not a "chat room," it does allow discussions about stories, or writing in general, even among people who may not necessarily be online at the same time (which a true chat room does not). My concern would be that, after whatever effort and perhaps cost to Februs to set it up, it might pull the site in a different direction from where it is, where the focus is clearly now on the stories.

Just one old man's Luddite opinion, but I never saw much point to chat rooms in general, and even less point here at the LSF. The library isn't a dating site, it's here to distribute and discuss fiction. Yes, some may wish to collaborate, but we have a special system for that, or the collaborators can communicate via popup window or in any number of other ways that needn't involve the library.

I think the forum is all we need on this site. I agree with what Rick and Guy said. It just wouldn't suit the concept and working of the library...

I also agree with Nick, let the focus of the Library stay on the stories, chatrooms are another site.

While I have found chat rooms very disappointing, perhaps a half way house would be for a couple of sections in the forum; one for general discussions, and one for story related discussions. On Alex Birch's site these used to be very well used and enjoyable. I know that FC is still up thanks to Februs but very few except a faithful few seem to use it much now unfortunately.
To those who say this is just a story library; I would add that afaik its by far the best of the psanko related sites, and I for one would welcome the opportunity to enjoy more discussions with the other members.

Just to add my voice to the debate, I certainly would much rather
this excellent site remained as it is structured.
If I really want to have a conversation with somebody,
my first port of call isn't a library!

Those who would like to chat could meet on a site like Bottomlines, that already has a chat-room facility.

Silly me - I thought we already had that in the "Storyboard" and "Smalltalk" sections of the Forum.

Quite right - one of the nasty librarians would be shushing you.

An excellent suggestion!

Now I think I'm going to have to reconsider MY position - as I agree with not one but both BOTH of you.
