I always sleep at the keyboard. Some of my best sleep is at the Keyboard.

Yep. Me too. There and behind the wheel of my car.

I guess falling asleep is one theory... My theory on this phenomenon for what it's worth is the reader completed reading the story, but instead of closing when finished and signing out, they just clicked the X in the top right corner, which would make them appear on line and gradually disappear off the list. This could happen for several reasons. It is possible they just couldn't be bothered clicking more than one button to close pages and log out properly....or they narrowly escaped being caught out reading LSF stories by an inquisitive family member, or visitor (I have been in this situation myself haha!) :-P ...Another possibility is that they were distracted away from the computer and left the page open with the intention of returning to it but got auto-signed-out before they had chance to come back to finish reading it:confusedalso a situation which has happened to me)... I very much doubt that a person would fall asleep with boredom on this site haha...especially when reading Mr Marlowe... and if a reader finds that a story is not to their taste then they would most likely close it after the first few paragraphs and then find another one which appeals to them.

Here's the real truth: this site is being studied by aliens from the planet Zurrgg, who wish to understand the mysteries of human behaviour before infiltrating us in human guise. A number of their advance agents have been assigned to scan certain stories and beam them back telepathically to their home planet; but since Zurrgg is 150m light-years away, transmission can often take quite some time.

I know this is true because a funny-looking little guy I met near Roswell told me it was.

Oh and by the way: the next stage of their investigation will be to beam up a few human specimens to undergo spankings and anal probes. Since the spankings will be extensive and prolonged, they're particularly interested in humans with preternaturally huge buttocks. I think you know who you are....

I'm not so easy to read - rather inscrutable, actually.

That's such a BORING explanation. Your other one was better.

I suppose there is a good reason why Februs included a logout button, so I try to use it. It just seems like the polite thing to do.

But sometimes I forget or the computer locks up, or (yes) someone walks into the room.

Hmmmm, I never log out, as I don't like to login every time I come here. I thought the logout-button is for people who share their computer and don't want their private messages being viewed by others. Is it really unpolite, if somebody doesn't push every offered button?

To the question of Rick: As I know meanwhile how crazy some authors are about views, comments, favourites and readers I always look, if one of these authors is online. If so I open one of their stories to please them and go my ways. In the evening I come back and open the next one. Not that any author thinks that nobody is interested in their stories!

Nope, nor do I. I have no need to and yes it is quite acceptable to just you those buttons that you want to

I do worry about you Rick, that you have enough time/interest to consider these questions, still it does get us all considering so that is something
