Be nice to me, I am validating your story at the minute

Oooo what does this button that says delete do I wonder.

It earns you a spanking?

Hmm is that supposed to discourage me?

I had no such expectations whatsoever. Well, at least the reading-while-validating hasn't put you to sleep... yet.

(of course, the dropping off the bottom of the page phenomenon just happened again with one of my readers, and appears likely to occur again soon)

(Lulling and soporific are GOOD things, right?)

Um...if you're writing a bedtime story, they are!

So not only do you grub for comments, but now you're grubbing for awake readers?? I think you should just be happy that your story title and author name are appearing on the activity page SOMEWHERE, whether the reader is conscious or not...

TSK Some writers are NEVER satisfied!

Good point. I'll adjust my aspirations accordingly.

Does anybody have a (different) theory? Or has anyone else noticed anything similar?

The sleep theory is certainly persuasive, but also consider "multitasking". Since there is no bookmark function, if one can't finish a story in one sitting (possibly due to an interruption) one might simply minimize the LSF site then place something more "innocent looking" on the screen. Then return later to finish Njrick's epic and riveting story. Rinse and repeat.

Given that my 'epics' generally turn out to be less than 2,000 words, one (meaning blimp, of course) could question this theory - but it sure sounds good to me!

I still say its a trick by library admin to send messages to our minds while we stare mindlessly at the screen so we do weird things. I know its a fact because I do weird things and someone has got to be blamed for it.
