I have never thought of Rick as being Mr Right before!

I am sure there are MANY things you never thought of, but that's ok - I recognize your limitations and accept them. We can still be friends!

Since when has Miss Thrashbottom let anyone off with a severe talking to? It would ruin her reputation and give TEM false hope

That is true!! Start running now, TEM!!

That is also true but I can easily imagine you with one of those impressive double barrelled surnames. How about Mr Rarely-Right ?

Well, yes, you do have quite an active imagination. That counts for something.

in order to return to the original problem: What about the word EGRESS? Should we change that - and to what?

egr?
egre?
eger?
egor?

Or how about this - exit?

This reminds me of a story - apocryphal or not - about P.T. Barnum, about when so many people would pack into his museum that he couldn't sell anymore tickets because it was full - so he put up a sign, signing "this way to the egress." Not wanting to miss whatever wonder that might be, people went through the door, solving his problem.

("egress" being the proper 19th-century spelling, of course)

Much to my surprise when I looked it up on my Kindle's Oxford dictionary, I found an entry.
It made me think; why on earth authoress exists:
We don't have Lawyeress, Barristeress, Judgess, Solicitoress-perhaps a woman who solicits has a different title though , Accountantess, Doctoress, Pharmacistess, Engineeress, scientistess, Artistess, ad nauseum.

In fact the only commonly used title I can think of is manageress; and it would be a very very brave man who used that terminology in the workplace today!!

So I ask TEM: Was it is a slip of the pen or are you a MCP!
PS this is you after your appointment with Miss Thrashbottom-
