All I want to know is: Is the tea much cheaper now than before the rebellion?

Of course not! It's eighty-bazillion times more expensive. But you're missing the important detail - NONE of the cost now is 'tax,' so that none of it goes to the government, which does nefarious things like defending our country, locking up criminals, putting out fires, educating our children, protecting our environment, supporting old people in their retirement and the like. We Americans are very principled, and that principle is very important to us!

...even when those principles fail to make sense.
