You see? It's just that kind of attitude that caused us to declare our independence in the first place... not to mention whip your butts at Concord, Princeton, Saratoga, Yorktown, etc.

Now if you Brits want to join the US of A so that you too can whine about taxes and such, just send in an application, and we'll get back to you.

The mere brief glimpses of the recent royal wedding which I was exposed to (due to my wife being engrossed with all the 'pomp and ceremony') were enough to make me realize how important Independence Day remains to Americans--well, to ones with my mindset anyway.

I may not be wealthy, but at least I don't call anyone else "guv'nor," not even my state's governor. (Now "ma'am," of course that's different...) --C.K.
