Exceeded maximum story rate?

I have been unable to access any stories for more than 24 hours now because I have "exceeded the maximum rate". I wasn't aware that there was any such restriction for subscribers, but can you tell me when I will be able to continue browsing?

Have you been commenting? I think there's still a limit of fifty stories without a comment...

I have the same problem. After adding comments i've been waiting a couple days, and still nothing. I don't know what's going on.

I believe the commenting rate required is 1 in 500 (not 50), but there is also, I think, a restriction that kicks in if you open too many stories in a short space of time. I'm sure one of the administrators will advise as soon as they have time, which, as you can imagine, is in short supply in this very busy enterprise. Be patient, comment (please!) and browse a little slower.

I am an "active commenter" (around 1 in 70). I read a lot of Phil K's limericks in quick succession, I was just in that kind of mood. So I may have opened too many items in short time but wasn't aware of that restriction. I appreciate that the administrators are busy so I will just keep trying. No worries.

We have a few automatic checks in place to prevent our server being overloaded. Anyway, I've unlocked the account again.
