Author Search on Challenge Pages not working

The author search box doesn't appear to be working on the challenge pages. Nothing comes up when you start typing an author's name, and clicking the magnifying glass or pressing enter doesn't do anything.

This is on Chromium and Firefox (on LinuxMint 17.3)

It never has worked. There are technical reasons why it doesn't work but I've never got round to fixing it.
