Hi, is it possible to remove a story from favourites, and if so how?

You can remove a favourite by clicking the heart shaped icon with a minus sign overlaying it, found wherever the story is listed. See Submission Details section of the Help pages.

If I remove a story from my favourites list, does the author's count of favourites get decremented? I would assume it does. The reason I ask is I would like to tidy my favourites list but would feel guilty about the effect it might have on an author when their favourites count moves in the wrong direction.
