Spanking Poetry Challenge - April 2011

What kinda sewer?

Yes I'd like the 100 word minimum removed too if possible.That would eliminate not only limericks but also haikus.

A limerick is just a five line poem with a particular meter and rhyme scheme so if a number of them are presented as stanzas of a poem then they'd probably be admissible. A bunch of standalone limericks submitted as a single item would not though.

Of course if people want to submit limericks or shorter verse forms such as haiku to the library in general they can, this is a specific challenge and the requirements are as already stated.

Maybe a limerick contest at a later date?

I think having a minimum number of words is sensible and yes, I like the idea of a limerick contest at another time.

Come on people, whats 100 words, according to Februs that means you only have to put in 20 words per line in your limerick...whats that to all the talent we have in the library...no problem

I like the limit, it sets a standard for this contest only, we can do other contests with other standards another time. Please do not change the rules when the contest is already running, leave it be. Thanks

There once was a poetry contest
about spanking and all the rest
but mine was too short
or something of the sort
for a library that wanted the best

There once was a library of fiction
For those with the spank predilection
they had a contest in verse
but mine's bad, and what's worse
there's that one hundred word restriction

But changing the rules gives me something to write about. At least it did last time.

It couldn't be worse
Badly written verse
Call for the nurse
Or maybe a hearse

Like an angel in Pink
That makes your heart sink
So pour me a drink
It helps me to think

Rotten rhymes that are rank
And a mind that is blank
Its flopsybunny we should thank
with a good hearty spank

Some of us are discovering talents we didn't know we had!!
