Chrome does have it's good points (library) but at times, IE 8 is better. I have never used Firefox. Some people have had trouble as a web browser with Firefox.
I won't bore you with all the technical details but speaking as someone who writes code which then needs to be tested in all the various browsers I can assure you that IE8 is very much inferior to Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari. If it wasn't for the fact that I write masses of extra code to compensate for the shortcomings and problems inherent in all the various versions of IE the library site would look a real mess to those people using Internet Explorer.
