"Chain stories" sounds like good fun. I have often wanted to try my hand at collaborative writing!

That would be fun but I wouldn't want to be the one to follow you.

What would be a good way to organize it?

cheery - Februs' post on the previous page says:

However I used to enjoy the chain-stories on Alex's Flaming Cheeks because you had to write quickly and in reply to somebody's ideas.

It's probably several months away yet and may not even materialise but I'm hoping to be able to provide some dedicated software to facilitate and encourage collaborative writing including 'chain stories'.

We'll just have to be patient or get sent to Miss Thrashbottom's office ...

Well my thinking was to build some dedicated software for it whereby library users could initiate a story and others would be able to write the next part when invited to, using the software to keep it all together. I'm hoping to be able to do it in 2 different ways .. either as a serial with a number of parts by different people or a single story with sections done by each other. I built a very primitive version of something like that 4 or 5 years ago which didn't work very well but hopefully this time round I can improve on it.

You're a hard woman flopsy.

So, it won't be like 'cheddar gorge' then?

I usually dream an ending. A twisted ending preferably. Then I dress it up. The begining comes next and finally I link both hopefully in a not too chaotic way. There are exceptions of course. A short story I wrote "What would you do?" has no ending, but as a reader correctly told me: a cop out. I wanted to write about the anguish a person feels when the loved one is very late and unreachable. And it sort of twisted away from me.

That is also the reason why I'm not good at finishing long serials.
