Horror stories - Pan

Who remembers or enjoyed the Pan Horror stories published in the UK in the 70's?
I remember there was some punishment in some of the stories - sometimes rather sadistic. Miss Fletcher was very strict when anybody stole from her plum tree!!

I have a dozen or more Pan horror paperbacks with attractive covers which are sitting on top of one of my bookcases. Never read them but I shall see if I can find Miss Fletcher. On the subject of stealing plums I remember an autobiography where a boy was caned across the hands by a young widow for stealing fruit from her orchard. If my memory was better than it is I would remember the title!

I think I had better read them first Jon. Just perusing the twelfth volume. My interest is in spanking rather than anything darker but Miss F's plums in volume 12 are getting an excellent build up!! They sound like they may be well worth a spanking!

"The Plums in Miss Fletcher's tree were exceedingly luscious. Plump and juicy, they hung pendulously in great quantities from the gnarled old limbs, tempting, mouth-watering, dark, glossy red skins almost bursting from the pressure of their delicious, incarnadined flesh. Dripping in veritable multitudes over Miss Fletchers high stone wall from loaded boughs..."

Just read the rest of it! My goodness its beyond belief. Never get past the LSF censor for sure! Well written but far too disturbing to be enjoyable.

Yes, I do enjoy spanking mixed with horror. For example Cold Paper (by Ramsey Campbell) is a Lovecraftian tale of horror. The main character is a gym teacher who can barely wait until classes start again so he can bounce a gym sneaker off of gym shorts at the boy's school he works at. In the meantime he listens intently to the people in the next apartment spanking their kid and heads off to a bookstore where he can buy "special" books. Note that the story was written in the late 1960s so virtually any porn is a special book.
Alas, he finds a different kind of special book. The 12th volume of The Revelations of Gla'aki. Things go downhill for him from there.

I re-wrote it many times in my mind.......perhaps a girl thief...........??!!

I could rewrite it myself with the mad old biddy choking herself on a big fat plum stone before she even laid a hand on the boy. I don't know how the author could have given us such an ending. It is very much like John Fowles, The Collector. After that wonderful description of the plums I must say I was very disappointed with it.
