Bare-bottom spanking in new movie

There's a brief, but vigorous bare-bottom spanking in Paul Thomas Anderson's new movie Inherent Vice (adapted from the novel by Thomas Pynchon). The hero, doped-up PI 'Doc' Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix) spends much of the movie trying to find out what's happened to his gorgeous ex-gf Shasta (Katharine Waterston). Towards the end she shows up again, and in a riveting long-take sequence explains to him, while stripping nude, just how she's been playing him along. She then lies down naked over his lap, and says "I know what I'd do if I had the faithless little bitch over my lap like this...." He gets in five or six good hard swats before they start screwing.

We see the spanks connect; they look and sound pretty genuine....

I hope that it wasn't cgi ed.

No, I don't think it was. It looked quite genuine.

Could be a butt double of course. But might not be. I would have to look at the cuts.

Doubt it's a butt double. KW's face, and her whole body, are fully in frame as the spanks land.

Phil, are you giving away the ending? That might earn you a visit to Miss Thrashbottom!

Oh, believe me, Fi, there's a hell of a lot more to the plot than that. It's quite a complex movie - as you'd expect from the combination of PTA and Pynchon...

Very short, but quite convincing. I would have loved to see more of the build-up, though.

From the tone of her gasp at the end I'd say that she welcomed the spanking.

Or at least the character did.
